Diabetic foot ulcers

The number of patients suffering diabetes has been increasing over the years due to numerous causes. The huge population of diabetic population is said to have a likelihood of 0.4% to 0.1% of developing diabetic foot ulcers among the older people who suffer from diabetes. This probability if predicted to increase as years go by due to the failure of the management of the health care facilities to develop intervention and prevention initiatives that will enable the general population as well as the patients with diabetes to determine what to do to avoid getting this illness. This condition has been said to increase the mortality rate of diabetic patients who suffer from it (Saad & Desoky, 2017). Therefore, this calls for collaboration of the management of the health care facilities in order to develop working initiatives that will help in preventing, treating as well as educating diabetic patients.

Even though there are numerous factors that result to diabetic foot ulcers among patients such as neuropathy and existence of peripheral arterial disease in the lower limbs, the major cause of the increased cases of this conditions among the older patients as compared to the other groups is due to the negligence of the management in providing the required health care services (, 2019). According to statistics there has been a significant increased in delayed recovery of patients with diabetic foot ulcers which is attributed to failure of proper glycemic control (, 2018). This suggests that the older patients are not getting the required medical attention maybe due to failure of management in the health care facilities to either provide the required health care information to the patients or the necessary medication which can promote healing of this condition.

According to research an approximate of 60% of diabetic foot ulcers patients are said to have neuropathy. Medical reports show that this condition is prevailing among the older population of diabetic patients who have poorly controlled diabetes thus resulting in delayed healing of the foot ulcers (, 2017). Even though it has been argued that aging increases the chances of diabetic patients getting this condition, poor management of the patients has been determined to augment this condition (, 2017). Therefore, it is important for the leadership of the health care facilities to make sure that they are offering the required medical attention to the diabetic patients which involves regularly checking their sugar levels and ensuring that they monitor them closely to avoid poorly controlled conditions.

The major effect of this problem is that it is increasing the mortality rate of diabetic patients and causing more complications which delay the healing of patients. The failure of management of health care facilities to monitor diabetic patients closely is resulting in increased expenditures on medical bills which could be preventing through offering basic information to patients and ensuring that the health care providers offer the required services.

In order to call upon the health care providers and the diabetic patients to actually take their medical services seriously, this topic is important to create awareness. It enables the health care providers to understand the importance of always getting well equipped with latest medical information to ensure that they offer the required treatment which speeds up recovery among patients. It enables the nurses to determine how failure of monitoring the conditions of the patients can result in more complications (Ambeth, 2019). Moreover, this subject is a wakening call to all the medical care providers to take part in their departments to ensure that this condition stops alleviating among diabetic patients.

The proposed solution for this condition is through collaboration of healthcare providers who are assigned to care for diabetic patients to make sure that they join hands and share the medical treatments and interventions that will help patients improve (Kostov, 2019). In addition, the patients should be educated on how to control their condition in order to avoid becoming victims of this condition (Tolyaganovich, 2018). It is important for the health care providers to use medical strategies that will promote the healing of patients with diabetic foot ulcers.
