Week-4-DQ-1-Response-to-classmate-Charyn-Brown-statistics-homework-help

Mary is planning a study to see if learning of 6th graders on a math lesson is affected by background noise level. She wants to use a t-test for independent groups to analyze her results. The independent variable is background noise level. Condition A is no background noise and Condition B is background noise. The dependent variable is the math score that the 6th graders earned based on the math lesson.

Measure of variable for the dependent element is the t-test. The t-test’s effect size complements its statistical significance, describing the magnitude of the difference, whether or not the difference is statistically significant. The degrees of freedom determines who well the t distribution approximates a normal distribution (Gravetter & Wallnau, 2013). The scale of measurement for the dependent variable of math scores is ratio as there is an absolute zero that is meaningful since the range of scores will vary from 0 to 100. Continuous data are numerical data that can theoretically be measured in infinitely small units and sometimes-continuous data are given discrete values at certain thresholds (Gravetter & Wallnau, 2013). The threshold for the math scores could be benchmark scores related to proficiency.
